The focus work for this month is Respect.

Respect is being thankful for who people are and what they do in our lives.

This past week in class, the MKG Kids talked about how to Respect ourselves by “Giving 100% Effort, 100% of the time”.

When we do our best, I mean really give it all we have, we can be proud and respect ourselves no matter the outcome. Whether it is in school, at home, at practice or martial arts class if they give 100%, our children can be proud of what they have accomplished.

Last week we had a few practical opportunities for learning this. During some of the drills, I noticed that 100% effort was not happening, so I asked one of our students, “Are you proud of that?” The student thought about it and answered, “No.” So, I asked them if they wanted to try again and of course, they said, “Yes.” To have respect for themselves they knew that they had to do their very best and when they went to try again the student took their time and did the technique much better. Was it perfect? Probably not, but when they turned around and ran back to the group they had a smile on their face and stood tall. The student knew that they gave it their best, they were proud! So, to show Respect for ourselves, “Give 100% Effort, 100% Of The Time”, no matter the situation. Then we can look back and appreciate all of the hard work and be proud no matter the outcome!

We realize that having a respectful child is one of our biggest goals for social development as parents. So,  MKG Madison is here to partner with you to reach that goal.

If you have any questions, just grab one of our instructors or contact us at info@MKGMadison.com

This week will be viewing our Focus word for the month, Respect.

And Our Technique Focus is Stranger Danger.

As an instructor, I get this question a lot, “What else can I do to get better?” The intention of this question is great! It shows a willingness to learn what it takes to develop. The question is asked with the thought there may be something “special” or “secret” that can be done to accelerate development.
